Fifty-eight students qualified to participate at Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center , Tuesday evening, May 7. These students were 4th-8th graders and represented all the school districts in Huron County. They had earned the right to be in this level of competition by winning a spelling bee in their specific grade or school. This competition follows the expectations, guidelines, and word lists of the Scripps National program but it remains a North Point Educational Service Center activity which climaxes with certificates for all and trophies for the top four finishers.
This year, BREYDON PERRY, a sixth grader from Mainstreet Elementary , Norwalk was the Champion speller, outlasting ADDISON MAITLAND, 6th grader from Monroeville who was the runner up. Third place went to EMMA BUCK, 4th grader from Western Reserve and fourth place was achieved by JACEN TETTERS, 4th grader from League ES., Norwalk. A very supportive audience of family members, school personnel and well wishers applauded and took pictures of the event.
