Firelands Challenge Begins Forty-fifth Season

Matches Start Next Week

Eighteen teams from across north central Ohio are returning to compete in the forty-fifth season of the Firelands Challenge Program this year. Matches are scheduled to resume next week at the EHOVE Career Center.  The teams will compete for prize money and scholarships.

As in the past, the season will have six rounds of matches.  The top two teams, based on cumulative scores, will proceed to the championship rounds.  The third-, fourth-, and fifth-place teams will participate in a play-off round with the winner joining the top two teams for the championship rounds.

Last season was unusual with a tie for the championship.  Edison High School shared the championship with St. Mary Central Catholic High School.  Edison continued its championship string with its thirteenth consecutive victory.  St. Mary ended the season with its first championship.

Norwalk High School joined Edison and St. Mary in the championship rounds.  This was the second straight year these three teams competed in the final matches.

All of the regular season matches will be held at the EHOVE Career Center.  The first-round schedule has six matches.
